Six Weeks Old

Kinsley has been adopted by the Griffith family, they can’t wait to start her on the path of therapy work!

Kinsley is a happy and calm natured girl that interacts well with us and loves attention. Her snuggly demeanor and lower to medium energy would make her the perfect playmate for young children or for someone wanting a more laid back family companion. Check out Kinsley’s temperament test results by clicking the link below, all of the puppies tested very similar across the board, we are super pleased to offer these sweet babies for your consideration!

This pretty girl is expected to mature to around 65 lbs and possesses a soft and full slightly wavy coat with slight shedding that will grow out into that incredible Teddybear cuteness that everyone loves!

On the learning front, Kinsley learned to use a litter box, has begun using the doggie door for playtime and pottying outside and daily crate training has lengthened to six hours with one break. This week beginning leash work and recall has started and daily jeep rides continue, she is doing excellent for her age!

Five Weeks Old

We are five weeks old and our little personalities are starting to develop! Our Teddybear coats are becoming full and we look pretty cute!

This past week we started beginner crate conditioning with a crate buddy so that we can slowly acclimate to sleeping in our crate. Marisa and Sharilyn have also been holding us more, offering gentle cuddling, holding while walking around and inspecting my body/mouth examination, all preparation for handling without fear when we go to our new homes. Our trainers have also started conditioned emotional response exercises such as pulling our ears, hugging around our necks, ruffling our fur, handling and squeezing our paws and clipping our nails while eating Greek yogurt during each manipulation. We are learning to show a positive response, instead of a negative one so that we can handle the bumps and tugs that we might encounter with young children or special needs children/adults with my our new families. Janet thinks we are doing great in preparation for our upcoming temperament test and that our new families will love our sweet and playful natures.

Our trainers have also started conditioning us to the different moving objects that we will encounter when we go to our new homes. Getting used to shopping carts, wheel chairs, walkers, strollers, canes, etc. prepares us for any direction our training will take once we join our new famlies. We have also progressed from sitting in a running vehicle to short car rides every day and daily crate training has lengthened!

Three Weeks Old

This has been a big week! Our eyes are almost fully open and we are beginning to respond to Marisa and Sharilyn when they take us through our daily training. A litter box has been added to our nursery room and we are already searching it out to go potty in! We also finished up our Neurological Stimulation exercises and have started the next phase of our training and conditioning. Holding, cuddling and walking around during this development stage helps us to learn to be secure when being carried and handled.

At 21 days our ears began to open and we can now hear. We don’t know much about science but research says that during the first week of hearing puppies have very little startle response to loud noises so Janet makes sure to take advantage of this time to begin conditioning us to accept these noises while we are eating. Doing something pleasant while we hear, startle and recover conditions us to ignore the scary noises that we will encounter in our future life. Daily sound conditioning will continue at each of our meals until we go home to our new family. We are getting used to hearing:

  • The sound of a running vacuum, force blow dryer and clippers

  • Slamming doors, gates and dropped objects

  • Honking horn and running car engine

  • CD containing noises such as thunder, wind storm, alarm clock, lawn mower, power saw, buzzers, bells, children playing, thumps, babies crying, bumps and much more

Today we received our first bath in preparation for our update, we did great! Enjoy this week’s pictures and video!

Two Weeks Old

Over the past week, we have really gained a lot of healthy weight and are starting to crawl around. Marisa and Sharilyn are finishing up our Early Neurological Stimulation exercises and we are responding very well! Each day we accept the exercises a little bit better, giving us the perfect start towards developing a temperament that can go in whatever direction you need, whether it be for therapy, diabetic/seizure alert or as an excellent family companion. Click on the bold link to read over a more scientific description of the process and to watch a short video by author, trainer and AKC judge, Dr. Carmin Battaglia.

Our next litter update will be a video of us eating for the first time at three weeks of age. Enjoy our video showing us doing our Early Neurological Stimulation exercises, aren’t we adorable!

One Week Old

Kat’s puppies are having a great first week and spend most of the day nursing or sleeping. Puppies now spread out under the heat lamp instead of crowding around Kat to nurse constantly, this is a good sign that they are getting enough to eat and are content. Marisa and Sharilyn are taking great care of the babies and they have started taking the puppies through their first stage of socialization. Expect to see a close up video of each puppy next week going through this first stage. We are excited to introduce the puppies to you, enjoy looking at their first video! - Janet

Newborn

Kat gave birth to nine beautiful and healthy puppies, six females and three males! She had an easy delivery with Janet’s help and was given oxytocin to expel any retained afterbirth and penicillin to ward off infection. Mama is recovering nicely and so far everyone is doing great! We will be contacting everyone on the reserve list to confirm decisions on reservations. Enjoy these newborn pictures!
